Log Book: November 6th

Conditions: 68 degrees, sunny
Location: Portsmouth, VA

Dad and I spent most of our morning at a quaint coffee shop on the main drag in Portsmouth, mostly because they had free internet and good tea. After catching up with the digital world we caught a ferry over to Norfolk to meet up with some long lost cousins. Lori and Bernie are Dad's father's brother's children- so Dad's first cousins. We had a marvelous time catching up, swapping family tales and family recipes. The Wargo family is notorious mysterious so it was a real treat to hear stories from other family members. Our time with them flew by, as everything you wish would linger usually does. Before we knew it we had stayed past our bedtime again.
We did learn some good news today from fellow sailors, the locks are open at low tide when the water tables match! Tomorrow we will head for the locks, which should open around 6pm. It's always nice to land in a great spot with a plethora of activities to explore but after a few days a tension builds and one becomes anxious to travel again.

What we ate: chicken pesto panini, steak & baked potatoes
Spotted: the real William Crawford, air craft carrier in a floating dry dock
