Log Book: October 9th

Conditions: 10mph NE wind
Location: Old Black Point

Where to begin an adventure is always the hardest part. Finding your way home is infinitely faster and easier because you've traveled this way before.

Today my father and I finally set sail - leaving Thames Yacht Club a little later than we had anticipated; however, the point is that we finally left. I have been increasingly anxious to begin this journey without realizing what leaving home really meant. Home is a stability, security, and simplicity that cannot be easily replaced by say a 33 foot piece of fiberglass. As we surfed down the swells off of Bartlett's Reef this afternoon I knew this boat might never meet the security requirements. However, in time and with a lot of tough love this old Tartan might be able to make the transformation.

What we ate: homemade RI clam chowder & peppermint tea
